ITS, Jahn Reisen and Tjaereborg, as Rewe Touristik.

LTU md due to buy 45% stake after Rewe sale
LTU managing director Jürgen Marbach is set to acquire a 45% holding in the leisure airline following Rewe’s long-expected sale of its 40% stake. The retail group, which had repeatedly declared that LTU was not part of its tourism core business, sold the 40% stake to Intro, the holding company of Hans Rudolf Wöhrl, giving the latter a 76% holding. But Marbach told FVW that his holding firm MIC would soon increase its recently-acquired 24% stake to 45%, leaving Intro with 55%. Marbach said that it should be possible to speed up cooperation between LTU and DBA with the new shareholder structure. LTU, however, will remain the preferred carrier for the Rewe tour operators under a contract valid until 2010.
Rewe has meanwhile re-named LTU Touristik, the legal company comprising operators ITS, Jahn Reisen and Tjaereborg, as Rewe Touristik. But Norbert Fiebig, Rewe board member for finances and tourism, stressed that the existing tour operator names would be retained. The group was merely considering whether to use Rewe Touristik as an umbrella brand in the long-term.
