改編自真人實事Melvin B. Tolson(1898-1966)／梅爾文·托爾森 知名黑人詩人兼文學家的故事
在种族歧视异常明显的南部，有着一小搓意志坚定的年轻人，他们通过一种与众不同的方式，追求着他们向往已久的平等和人权。
印象最深的就是Ｔolson訓練他的隊伍的時候，
所背誦的那段話：
"Who is the Judge?
The Judge is God...
Why is he God?
Because he decides who wins or loses not my opponent ...
Who is your opponent ?
He does not exist....
Why doesnt he exist?
Because he is a mere dissenting voice of the truth i speak !!"
誰是裁判？－裁判是上帝
為什麼是上帝？－因為他決定誰勝利，誰失敗，而不是我的對手。
誰是你的對手呢？－不存在。
為什麼不存在？－因為他不過是反對我所說真理的聲音。
