According to my experience, I would like to give you the following suggestion:
1. If you are a lady above 28, I would like to go for job-hunting.
2. If you are a lady below 28,I would like to do some Job Market Search before making a decision. When you do the job market searching, concentrate on the career prospect, I am not familiar with your Major. In Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biology field, without a Ph.D, all your career will be restrict to Bench Work, there is limited chance for you to get promoted.This has nothing to do with your salary, don't believe the salary people posted here, I would like to say maybe half of them were exaggerated. We are living for the Happiness, not for the money.
3. If you are a gentleman and you have fun with research (all kids of research). My suggestion is go for a Ph.D. especially in Germany.
Of course everything depends on your interests, We are living for our Happiness

看了这么多讨论，我也要来说两句。大家对女博士有这么多偏见，真是让人发指。
对于读博士，当然开始的年龄是一个重要的因素，这点对于男生女生都是一样说法，如果你开始的时候已经28以后，那读完博士32，在工业界已经基本是上限，再大年龄的只能下决心作教授了。
如果楼主对于现在的状况已经很满意，那么也不用去读博士。读博士是一条艰辛的道路，没有一点决心和毅力是很难完成的。大道理没有必要再实复述，我觉得你父母说的已经很多了。我只是觉得，读博士对大多数人来说，都是一生一次的机会，借过了，就不可能回头了。从人生的经历角度来讲，工作是每个人早晚都要去参加的，但读博士对于大多数已经工作的人来讲，确是不可能再有的经历。
我知道计算工程找工作不难.

i'm in your second case, which seems to be the most complicated one...
actually,i don't worry so much about the promotion that I will get in future or stick to the high salary as some of them might do.
I totally agree with you at the point of happiness, since it is all that we are aiming for.
it seems that the most tricky part is to figure out the balance point between age and degree.

参加工作之后，会不会也有机会读博呢？到时候会不会更有目的性？
