It's surely a driver problem. try with system update for current driver version. you can also post here http://forums.lenovo.com/lnv/?category.id=Thinkpads

BTW. I also find my AC adapter have the small noise with my W500, and the former T43 didn't. I had throught it's a natural phenomenon and they will not replace.

Could you kindly tell how loud it is, mine sounds like high frequency noise
