I guess,
1. pudding is the dessert after the main course/meal. Meat(such as steak)  is the main course/meal.
So, if you don't eat your main meal(chunky, difficult to digest)  first,  the waiter/waitress won't serve you the dessert.
& L1 I5 P6 l1 C( |- f) ythe lyrics MIGHT mean that if you(as students don't study hard), you won't get anything sweet from the life.

2. The lyrics is typical black English: double negative = negative (NOT positive). eg.. we don't need no education = we don't need education.
