Visitor Visa (B-1/B-2)
Your purpose of travel must be for purely business or pleasure. Otherwise you are not eligible to travel with a Visitor Visa.

1.
Your purpose of travel must be purely business or pleasure
2.
That you plan to remain for a specific, limited period.
You are not permitted to work during your stay in the U.S. on a visitor visa, whether you are being paid or not. You are also not allowed to attend school or university, English language courses, or take care of children as an Au Pair with the following exception:
Medical students:
Medical students who wish to serve a medical clerkship at a university hospital may be eligible for a B-1 visa with special annotation.
General information:
1.
A visa is not a guarantee of entry into the U.S. The immigration official (CBP - Customs and Border Protection) at the port of entry determines whether or not you may enter and your authorized duration of stay.
2.
Your visa validity does not reflect your duration of stay (i.e. how long you may remain in the United States). The validity of the visa permits you to enter the U.S. during a certain period of time.
The immigration officer at the port of entry determines whether or not you may enter and your authorized duration of stay.
After boarding the airline or cruise ship, you will receive a Form I-94 (white), concerning your visit. You will be required to complete and sign this form. The form will be stapled into your passport with a remark from the Immigration Officer about the authorized duration of stay.
You must submit the following documents when applying for a visa:
* A passport, (for German and most European citizens valid for at least the duration of your intended stay in the United States). The passport must have at least two blank pages available. If more than one person is shown on the passport, a separate visa application is needed for each person who is traveling to the U.S.
It is possible to apply for a visa with a temporary passport. Upon receiving the new passport you may travel with the old passport with the still valid visa and the new valid passport as long as the information in the new passport matches the information on the visa, i.e. name, nationality.
