NATO allies can now shoot down Russian warplanes crossing alliance borders

NATO has changed its rules to allow the downing of Russian aircraft violating its airspace, marking a major shift in its military posture since the start of the Ukraine war.

The decision by all 32 members follows recent Russian incursions, including drones on September 9-10 and fighter jets entering Estonian airspace on September 19.

This change to NATO's classified "rules of engagement" signals a strategic move beyond its previous policy of only providing Ukraine with weapons and intelligence support from behind the front lines.

OpenAI integrates instant purchases into ChatGPT

OpenAI launched "Instant Checkout", allowing U.S. users to buy products directly within ChatGPT. The move into e-commerce is a direct challenge to Google's search advertising model.

Powered by a new Stripe protocol, the feature launched with Etsy sellers and will soon add over a million Shopify merchants. OpenAI will collect a small fee from the merchant on each transaction, helping to monetize its large user base.

The system replaces a previous feature that only linked out to websites. OpenAI says product results are organic and unsponsored, ranked on relevance, availability, and price, not on merchant fees.
